About Us

Platzer Marine Propulsion, Inc. was established in 2006 to offer the marine community a unique blend of products and services to optimize the performance of their vessels.  By applying more than 30 years of expertise in advanced marine propulsion, our customers can be assured that their vessels are being outfitted with the best technology available.  

We have carefully partnered with several well-known international companies to represent their innovative products in North America.  These companies appreciate Platzer Marine Propulsion’s extensive technical expertise in applying their products correctly and to maximum the performance benefit for each customer.  We also specialize in designing and providing custom propellers, which are individually engineered to optimize the performance for a specific application.  

We are strategically located in Fort Lauderdale Florida, which allows us to conveniently service a large year-round local population of yachts.  We routinely go out on sea trials or to a local boatyard on short notice to evaluate propulsion related issues.  We are equipped with instrumentation to make shaft horsepower and vessel vibration measurements to diagnose problems.   

We recently made a significant investment in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) technology to establish a virtual hydrodynamic laboratory.  This capability allows us to conduct detailed analysis of complicated fluid dynamic problems and evaluate proposed geometric modification / solutions.  To date we have used this capability to analyze / optimize propeller cavitation, surface-piercing propeller designs, high speed sea chest inlet systems, trim & ride control systems, underwater exhaust systems, struts, rudders and prop tunnels.  We have also used our virtual laboratory to evaluate / optimize hull forms for resistance, powering, minimization of spray, powering, seakeeping, vertical acceleration and hull slamming loads in waves and broaching in stern quartering seas.
