102' Ocean Alexander motor yacht reduced fuel consumption up to 20% by installing Humphree Interceptors

In the summer of 2009, Platzer Marine Propulsion retrofitted the 102 ft Ocean Alexander motoryacht JULIA with a Humphree Interceptor trim control system.  It was known that without any trim tab system, the vessel squatted severely in shallow water.  Since this vessel’s home port is in the Miami, Florida area and makes frequent trips to the shallow waters of the Bahamas this was a significant issue.  As projected, the Humphree Interceptors significantly increased the lift on the stern, dramatically improving the running trim angle and reducing hull resistance.
